Dr. Ergüder CAN
Dr. Ergüder Can was born in the county Salihli of Manisa in 1967. He graduated from the Department of International Relations, Faculty of Political Sciences of Ankara University in 1988.
Mr. Can started his career as District Governor Candidate in 1989. He held Office as District Governor and Deputy Governor in several regions. He completed his graduate studies at the Faculty of Finance, Institute of Social Sciences of Dokuz Eylül University in 1996 and at MA Programme in Social Policy of Middlesex University in London in 2001.
He completed his doctorate at the Faculty of Economics of Dumlupınar University in 2004. He has conducted thesis studies entitled “The Role of Public Revenues on Environmental Population”, “European Union Structural Funds and Regional Development: The Challenge of Turkish Accession” and “EU Regional Policies and Structural Funds: Advices for Turkey through EU Harmonization Process”
He wrote articles especially on regional policies and environment in both Turkish and foreign languages. In 2004, his book entitled “European Union Regional Policies and Structural Funds: A Review for Turkey in Harmonization Process” was published. He gave lessons in the fields of “Personnel Management”, “Political Communication and Propaganda” and “Mass Communication” in Turkish and English.
Mr. Can served as the project coordinator and educationist in the project on “Disaster Management” by Turkish Ministry of the Interior and JICA (Japan International Cooperation Agency). He was appointed as Civil Inspector of Turkish Ministry of the Interior in 2004 and as Civil Chief Inspector in 2005. Dr. Ergüder Can, who was appointed as the Secretary General of İzmir Development Agency in 2006, continues to hold this position. Mr. Can has the knowledge of English at advanced level and Spanish at basic level.
